A TAOS NEW MEXICO BED AND BREAKFAST
Frommer's American Southwest 2008 and Frommer's 2007 Guide to Santa Fe, Taos and Albuquerque - A Frommer's Find. "Little Tree is one of my favorite Taos bed-and-breakfasts, partly because it's located in a beautiful, secluded setting, and partly because it's constructed with real adobe that's been left in its raw state, lending the place an authentic hacienda feel. Visiting hummingbirds enchant guests as they enjoy a scrumptious breakfast on the portal." New Mexico Magazine, May 2005. "A stellar B&B, the moderately priced Little Tree scores high marks - it rests upon a slope of sagebrush near Arroyo Seco, affording guests eye- popping views of the Sangre de Christo mountains to the east and the Rio Grande Valley to the west. The four guest rooms in this authentic adobe house surround a hummingbird-happy garden and contain Saltillo-tile floors and rustic but refined Southwestern furnishings."

Southwest: ****1/2
"On a rural road midway between the Plaza in Downtown Taos
and Taos Ski Valley to the north, Little Tree is built with Taos
Pueblo-style exposed adobe rather than completely covered with more durable
adobe-colored plasters and stucco. The hosts, Ritz-Carlton refugees raising search-and-rescue dogs, claim calmer sleep comes with exposed
adobe. 'The buildings actually breathe', they say. Many interior walls have
an old-fashioned "alise" finish, a mixture of mud, wheat paste,
straw
and mica, adding glitter and sparkle. Exterior walls receive yearly maintenance
to keep from washing away." A Note on our Location: Please use the directions listed on this website. A number of websites, map engines and guidebooks map us incorrectly on Hwy 64 to Angel Fire. In addition, Trip Advisor lists us in "Arroyo Hondo" rather than "Taos". Arroyo Hondo is our zip code for postal service. To put Taos in perspective, The Little Tree is located 15 minutes north of Taos Plaza and 5 minutes west of the village of Arroyo Seco (which is at the base of Taos Mountain on the way to Taos Ski Valley). Ranchos de Taos is 15 minutes south of Taos Plaza. Taos Plaza is the town center. Between town and the outer "suburbs" of Taos (where we are), you will find rural farming & ranching homesteads, residential areas, small business clusters and tiny villages. Guests desiring quieter lodging or panoramic scenic views generally prefer staying away from the town center. Here is a good map that puts Taos B&B's in perspective.
From Our Guest Book: "It's always a pleasant surprise to find that searching on the internet
for a place to stay can yield excellent finds. The breakfasts were out of this
world; the rooms were cozy; the mattress perfect for a good night's rest after
a fun day in Taos. And then, on our last hurried morning, to find a special
breakfast-to-go waiting ~ just for us ~ was a perfect ending to a perfect
visit! You make running a bed and breakfast look effortless ~ no mean feat!"
"It's the next best thing to having a
friend invite you to stay. But few of us have friends as helpful as Maggie and
Gordon ~ whether it's reserving a 'love shack' at Joseph's Table for THE
romantic dinner ~ to suggesting where to find the tin mirror I've been looking
for for 5 years ~ to pinpointing the most perfect hike of our trip ~ we've
been in the best of hands." "As hosts, you are peerless. As
breakfast chefs, you are world-class. As keepers of the lore and traditions of
Taos, you are fonts of information ~ we'll never forget these delightful
days." The Little Tree Bed &
